How can you go wrong with chocolate? Other than the sumptuous taste, chocolate is also known to offer some health benefits especially the dark chocolate. So more reasons to eat chocolate. Here in Seattle, one of my favorite places for some chocolate indulgence is Fran’s chocolate. Even the Obamas love their salted caramel chocolate. I also love their dark chocolate sauce for ice cream, shown in the featured picture for this post poured over my homemade roasted banana ice cream. If you like making your own ice cream, my favorite book for recipes is David Lebovitz’s The Perfect Scoop.
I have also made a delicious gluten-free and dairy free cookie bars from the book ‘everyday grain-free baking’ by Kelly Smith. We discovered chocolate soufflé when we were traveling in the Disney Cruise to the Caribbean. It was well worth the extra waiting time and perfect ending to a superb dinner. I tried replicating it but had not been too successful, although I did find a good and easy recipe from America’s Test Kitchen. Another of my favorites is chocolate hazelnut spread. It is easy to make with just roasted hazelnut and dark chocolate mixed in my Vitamix blender. A healthier choice than Nutella.
When we were traveling in Sicily last year, we came across a church with a chocolate display. The stairs, fish market, vases and of course the Godfather scenes were all made from different types of chocolate.
